Who We Serve
We serve people from diverse ethnic groups, living situations, ability levels, and age groups. During the 2016 tax season, with the support of CASH Oregon, 1,244 IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers, trained by AARP Tax-Aide Trainers, filed the taxes and answered the questions of over 66,000 families and individuals statewide who received over $58,000,000 in total refunds.
Many taxpayers do not have access to the internet at home. For those who have access to the internet, many are not aware of the ever changing tax laws and/or credits. Because of this, people turn to commercial tax preparers that charge $150 - $325, or more. By taking advantage of our free tax preparation services, taxpayers maximized their refunds by eliminating the fees charged by commercial tax preparation companies statewide saving filers more than $8,6100,000! In addition, these filers avoided the temptation of Refund Anticipation Loans.
