About MFS CASH Oregon
What is MFS CASH Oregon?
MFS CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Oregon is an Economic Empowerment Program of Metropolitan Family Service committed to improving the financial lives of low to moderate income working families and individuals by providing free, high-quality tax preparation and culturally responsive outreach to communities likely to face barriers to accessing tax credits.
With over a dozen free volunteer tax sites in the Portland and Eugene metropolitan areas as well as virtual tax preparation services, CASH Oregon provides thousands of families from every community and background with the tools needed to navigate the complexities of tax filing and significantly increase their refunds each year by accessing life-stabilizing tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.
As part of our commitment to reducing barriers to accessing tax credits, CASH Oregon provides comprehensive Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) assistance so that hardworking taxpayers who traditionally miss out on the credits they qualify for because they or their family members do not have social security numbers to use on tax returns can get their rightful refunds as well.
Additionally, CASH Oregon’s Impuestos Comunitarios program is dedicated to supporting the Limited English Proficient, Spanish-speaking community. This welcoming, culturally specific tax site overcomes language barriers by ensuring all communication is in Spanish and is staffed by passionate volunteers who are well versed on the unique needs and tax situations of this community.
CASH Oregon is also a proud partner of the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Learn more about the VITA Program here.
