Volunteer Roles
Tax Preparer
Prepares and completes tax returns, answers tax questions
Requires approximately 40 hrs of self-paced training
Client Facilitator
First point of contact, checks in taxpayers for appointments and helps clients make appointments by phone
Requires approximately 10hrs of self-paced training
Interpreter
Helps translate for taxpayers who are not proficient in English
Requires approximately 10hrs of self-paced training
Outreach Committee
Shares awareness of MFS CASH Oregon to engage and educate the community on tax filing
Requires approximately 10hrs of self-paced training
Volunteer Requirements
- No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn
- Attend New Volunteer Orientation
- Complete volunteer training either virtually or in-person
- Pass Open Book IRS Volunteer Certification Exams
- Pass Background Check
- Minimum 4hrs/week commitment during tax season
